several times on this board i have read comments from people who were considering joining a new religion.
and how a jw baptism was not "valid", so there should be no problem while getting ready to join the new church.. if a baptism is not real, what about other aspects of life,, such as a marriage ?
outside of the legal requirements that are written down and recorded, from a spiritual standpoint, is it just a bunch of nonsense ?.

looking back over 29 years as a jw it really shocks me to reflect on how passive young people are molded toward this religions goals.. dont ever plan on attending college, instead focus your life toward the goal of pioneering.
dont look at building a future in this world,,, focus on gaining a position within the congregation and the organization, ( ms, elder, missionary, etc).

Perhaps any of the young ones contemplating moving on up the jw corporate ladder will read this article and see what can happen after you grow up, and many of the opportunities available to you now are totally gone

Hawthorne park in Cicero Illinois.
I worked for the track vet for the racetrack next door ( Sportsmans), so I went there quite regularly.
During the DA, I would take my son's and several of their friends for a walk right after lunch. We went into the racetrack, and they got
the "royal tour" from people I knew, I think that they all felt sorry for the kids so the horse trainers went out of their way to be nice.
Anyway, we returned to the assembly around mid- afternoon. Several of the kids had aluminum horseshoes given to them by jockeys !
Parents really gave me the stink eye.
But my kids were celebrities, because they held the ticket for getting away from the program that day. We did this several times during the next severa
years, mostly with different kids each time.

I remember when Jim Jones had his followers kill themselves. I was mad at him, but as time went on and I read
the stories about how parents killed their children I developed a hatred toward the followers.
Any religion needs the support of their followers , so I could blame the religious "leaders" only to a certain point.
There is an invisible line where the followers need to be responsible for their actions, blaming the higher ups is not being
totally truthful.
So the wtbts is responsible for the beliefs, and"lemming - like" behavior of the witnesses, but the individuals need
to look at the whole thing.
So I still do have a certain amount of hatred/anger toward many witnesses that I have known.
Their ignorance, blindness, and inability to act out of any tye of normal human behavior is something that they have surrende

over 25 times within ten minutes.
fast forward twenty years, and I still sometimes hold back, or just plain don't see the value in it deending on the situation.
That whole "witness thing" about shaking everyones hand sometimes really gets to me.
Is this something that anyone else has experienced ?

however i'm going to direct my thoughts and comments in this initial post to lurking jehovah's witnesses who may read on this board and may be sitting on the fence pondering on whether to stay in the jehovah's witnesses organization.
also to newer members who may have joined the board.. in this latest 4/15 wt in the article , " jehovah knows how to deliver his people " it conveys the thought that only the wt society ( through god's help ) will be guiding any jw's through the alleged " armageddon " considered god's war against the wicked.
And another thought :
At the meeting right after 9/11 happened, the po accounced and (this is pretty much a quote regarding what he said) that "we should not worry, everything is, and will be taken care of regarding jahs people".
When I was getting ready to walk away from this organization five years ago , I asked the po just what was planned back then,and what would we have done if times really got bad?
His reply :
well, there was nothing really "planned" from the wtbts standpoint, we just needed to be reminded as to the critical times that we live in and to put our whole trust in Jah !

I seem to remember the builders, designers, crew, and captain saying pretty much the same thing regarding the Titanic.
